Clare Pony Club sent a team of its best competitors to the National Minimus Championships in Punchestown last weekend only for the band of battling Banner stars to return with their heads held high and a top sportsmanship award to boot.

Representing the Banner county were;

Clare Hawks of Maeve Begley, Daniel McNamara, Josh Hassett and Aine Lane.

Clare Owls of Lucy Atkinson, Aoife Whelan, Ava McNulty and Jack Hanrahan.

Clare Falcons of Cillian O’Halloran, Elsie Carey and Moya Clarke.

The Hors Concours team of the ‘out of competition’ Clare Kestrels were Hannah Hassett, Anna Coffey, Megan Hanrahan and Blaithin Larkin.

At the end of the two-day competition, the Clare Hawks took the 20th place team rosette for their combined efforts over the challenging cross country course and Sunday’s swim and run under the sweltering summer sun.

Meantime, as the best turned out pony club and best behaved, the combined teams of Clare Pony Club were picked for the top Sportsmanship award with each of the competitors receiving a coveted red rosette.

See our gallery of just some of the pictures captured from what was a really memorable weekend.

Clare Pony Club would like to thank all those who helped in any way big or small, to the trainers and coaches, the parents and above all, our Hawks, Owls, Falcons and Kestrels teams of competitors who wore the saffron and blue with pride and honour in Punchestown.

Roll on 2018.
